It’s been a while since I’ve managed to keep up with a wwwWednesday and it feels lovely to be back and seeing what everyone else is reading on the blogs and not just on Instagram.
The image above is some of the books that arrived in our house recently ready to read and review.
Currently Reading
I’ve turned into such a mood reader lately so I’ve often got several books on the go including ones I’m reading with my 7 year old daughter. Are you a one book at a time person or do you have several on the go?
Greenwild The World Behind the Door by Pari Thomson
I’ve just started Greenwild The World Behind the Door by Pari Thomson and published by Macmillan. It’s one I’ve been eager to read as there are rave reviews on Instagram for it. Who can resits a book with a map like this…?!
Monkey King and the World of Myths: The Monster and the Maze
We’re huge graphic novel fans and really enjoying Monkey King and the World of Myths: The Monster and the Maze by Maple Lam. Do you read graphic novels?
A Year in the Castle
We are loving A Year in the Castle. I’m not sure we’ll ever finish reading as each time you go back you spot another storyline or interesting trinket. Such a wonderful book.
A Pocketful of Stars
Over on Borrow Box I’m listening to A Pocketful of Stars by the wonderful Aisha Bushby. I’m at that point in a book where you’re really confused about what’s going on. Hence, I’m eager to keep listening!
Just Finished Reading
I’ve just finished reading some wonderful middle grade and YA fiction books and I’ll have blog posts up in the next week with my reviews.
Sister Spirit
Sister Spirit is Efua Traoré debut dip into YA fiction and it’s superb. I’ve loved her middle grade books. This one sees us back in Nigeria at a boarding school where adopted girl Tara is searching for answers to her nightmare that threaten to end her life just like her mother. Here’s my review.
Wild Oak
C.C.Harrington’s Wild Oak is just the most beautiful story with the warmest, wonderful relationships. I can’t wait to share this full review with you. If you loved Snow Girl you will adore Wild Oak.
Unstoppable Artists
Unstoppable Artists is something really new from Owlet Press. A book about breaking the mould Full of bios from creative people from diverse backgrounds. It’s a must read. I think it would be an ideal text to turn into an art curriculum.
Turtle Rescue
Turtle Rescue has so many facts and strong eco message packed into a fictional narrative. Stunning illustrations and perfect for 5/6 years +. Find my review here.
Stuff Happens!
Stuff Happens!: Manage your clutter, clear your head & discover what’s really important by Emma Gleeson. I thoroughly enjoyed this one on Borrow Box as an audio book. Lots of great, useful advice!
Future Reading
Care Bear Tonie Character
Rather excited for us to listen to this Tonie character – one of the new Care Bear Tonie characters. To find out more about this one and other new releases check out my New Tonie post here.
Pink Trucks
Excited for Pink Trucks by Sam Clarke and Cory Reid this is a book that’s supposed to bust the pink is just for girls bubble. I love books that challenge ingrained stereotyping.
The Bumblebee Garden
We adored Dawn Casey and Stella Lim’s Spin a Scarf of Sunshine which brought us the lifecycle of wool. This one promises us the life cycle of the bee wrapped in a fictional tale – The Bumblebee Garden.
