Voxblock Tokens

There’s something quietly magical about collecting things. Not in a cluttered, overwhelming way – but in that slow, satisfying, I’m getting closer kind of way. The kind that builds excitement over time. The kind that turns something ordinary into something meaningful. And recently, I realised that the Voxblock token system brings that feeling back in a way I didn’t expect.

What Are Voxblock Tokens?

Firstly, if you’re wondering what a Voxblock is then check out this post. If you’re new to Voxblock, their token scheme is beautifully simple – and that’s exactly why it works.

Each time you purchase an audiobook, you receive a physical token. You collect these tokens and stick them onto a collection card. Once you’ve filled the card with 10 tokens, you can redeem them for a free audiobook of your choice.

To redeem them, you don’t just click a button or log into an account. Instead, you:

  • Fill in your chosen audiobook
  • Add your address
  • Put a stamp on the card
  • Post it back

Then, a little while later, your new audiobook arrives through your door. Well in our case it was under a week!

My initial thoughts were – why didn’t they just make this digital so you don’t have to pay for a stamp! Hopefully, this post will tell you exactly why I no longer agree with my early thoughts and the magic these Voxblock Tokens have been to my daughter.

The Joy of Physical Collecting

We live in such a digital world now. Points, rewards, loyalty schemes – they’re everywhere. But they’re also… forgettable. How many times have you earned points online and completely forgotten about them?

Voxblock flips that on its head by making the experience physical. The tokens themselves are tangible (even holographic), something you can hold, collect, and see building up over time. And that small shift – from digital to physical in this fast-paced instant world, makes a huge emotional difference. Because suddenly, it’s not just a reward system. It’s a collection. It’s progress you can see. It’s anticipation you can feel.

A Throwback to Childhood

This is where the nostalgia really hits for me. Here I am, with my daughter as she excitedly adds on the holographic Voxblock Tokens to the postcard. She’s been researching exactly which audiobook she’d like to choose. The anticipation that it won’t be long until the awaiting audiobook arrives is palpable. As I watch a smile comes over me and the memories of joy flood back to me.

As a child, I remember cutting out tokens from things like Ribena cartons. Do you remember these – you had a little blackcurrent that you’d cut off the corner tab! Carefully saving them. Counting them. Checking how many I still needed. Working out exactly what I wanted to exchange them for. This process kept me very busy, very engaging and of course wanting to drink Ribena!

Then finally the day would come, filling out a form, putting it in an envelope, and sending it off with a stamp.

And then… waiting.

That waiting was part of the magic.

There was no instant gratification. No next-day delivery. Just the excitement of knowing something was on its way because you earned it. Voxblock tokens tap straight into that same feeling. It’s not just about getting a free audiobook. It’s about the journey to get there.

Why Snail Mail Still Matters

Am I alone when I reminisce about the wonders of receiving ‘post’ as a child? I still love receiving good post now – not those bills! The joy of receiving snail mail seems a dying art right now and this is another reason I love the format of the Voxblock Tokens.

There’s something quite special about the fact that you physically post your card. My daughter took a special trip out to post it. In a world of instant downloads and one-click purchases, it feels almost rebellious to slow things down. But that’s exactly why it works. Posting your tokens makes the process feel intentional. It turns it into an experience rather than a transaction. Little moments that build magic and memories.

And for children especially, this is powerful. I’ve talked about my memories of Ribena tokens. How many children of today will remember collecting a digital token or reward. Receiving the tokens, saving, collecting, sticking and sending all add to the memories and the pleasure of enjoying an audiobook – just like I loved drinking Ribena!

They get to:

  • Collect something real
  • Work towards a goal
  • Experience delayed gratification
  • Receive something in the post that they’ve earned

That’s a whole life lesson wrapped up in a loyalty scheme!

Building Brand Loyalty the Right Way

Let’s be honest – this is also incredibly smart. Because this kind of system doesn’t just encourage repeat purchases… It builds emotional connection. When a child (or adult!) is collecting tokens, choosing their free audiobook, and waiting for it to arrive, they’re forming a relationship with the brand.

It’s not just “buying a product.” It’s being part of something. And that’s exactly the kind of brand loyalty many of us remember from childhood – when collecting tokens wasn’t just about the reward, but about the experience itself.

Why I Think This Matters

For me, this is about more than just audiobooks. It’s about slowing things down. It’s about bringing back small, meaningful rituals. It’s about giving children experiences that aren’t instant, disposable, or purely digital. And honestly? I didn’t expect a simple token system to make me feel quite so nostalgic – but it really does.

There’s something deeply satisfying about collecting, saving, posting, and waiting. It feels like a little piece of childhood has been brought back… just in a slightly more modern form.
