Card Drop – 2 April 2026
The first April drop is a big one, with ten new cards covering everything from detective stories and magical adventures to music, culture and real-life inspiration. There’s a great balance here for both younger listeners and older children.

Available in All Yoto Card Stores
The Boxcar Children Collection 2 (7–10)
The Alden siblings return with more mysteries to solve, taking listeners from remote islands to old lighthouses as they follow clues and uncover secrets. A great choice for children who enjoy classic, family-friendly detective stories. It’s worth noting that The Boxcar Children were written a while ago. As with many classic stories, the books reflect the time they were written, so some language or perspectives may feel dated today – but overall they remain gentle, family-friendly mysteries. You get 3 hours and 33 minutes of content over 4 cards.
Disney 5 Minute Stories Collection (3–6)
A mix of short Disney tales featuring familiar characters like Anna and Elsa, Mickey and friends, and a range of princesses and heroines. Each story is quick and easy to listen to, making it ideal for bedtime, car journeys or short story breaks. Five Yoto cards with 2 hours and 7 minutes of content across all five.
The Great Mouse Detective Pack (6–9)
Follow Basil of Baker Street, a brilliant mouse detective, as he solves a series of mysteries in London and beyond. These stories have a fun, slightly old-fashioned detective feel with plenty of twists along the way. This is another classic-style detective story with mild peril and clear good vs bad characters but nothing too intense for most children. 4 hours and 34 minutes across three cards.
And More New Yoto Titles
Houndsley and Catina Collection (5–8)
A gentle collection centred on friendship and everyday life. Through small moments and challenges, Houndsley and Catina explore feelings, patience and what really matters, making this a lovely calm listening option. Although the age range for this on Yoto is 5-8 the books have often had age guidance for 2+. I’ve not read these yet so it’s one to test out to see what you think. 39 minutes in duration.
Esquivel! / Nothing: John Cage and 4’33 (4–10)
Two fascinating audio stories about music and creativity. One explores the bold idea of silence in music through John Cage’s famous piece, while the other celebrates a pioneering sound artist from the mid-20th century. A brilliant pick for curious listeners interested in music and creativity. 45 minutes in duration.
Five Stories (5–10)
A thoughtful collection that explores the experiences of different families living in the same New York building over time. Each story reflects a different culture, offering a gentle introduction to diversity, history and community.

Available in UK, Australia and Europe Yoto Card Stores
Unicorn Academy Collection (5–9)
Based on the popular series, this collection follows a group of students training to become Unicorn Riders. Across four magical adventures, themes of friendship, courage and teamwork run throughout – perfect for fans of fantasy and adventure. Four cards with 11 hours and 3 minutes of audio – great value.
Unicorn Academy Resources & Activities
- Unicorn Academy website has activities, links to YouTube (it’s now a TV series too) and colouring pages here.
- My Secret Unicorn Diary was a World Book Day £1 book here in the UK. This often means you’ll find these popping up in charity shops. It’s currently still available on Amazon here.
