The selection has grown considerably over the last couple of years, with some particularly exciting additions for 2025 and 2026. We’ve got everything from classic ghost stories and The Nightmare Before Christmas to new Horrid Henry adventures, monster games and Halloween music.

I’ve updated this guide with some of the best Halloween Tonies, including newer releases, Creative-Tonie audio and downloadable Halloween podcasts to investigate.

You’ll find suggestions for different ages and scare levels, whether you want something gentle for a younger listener or a story with a little more of a fright factor for older children.

If you’re looking for Yoto Halloween recommendations instead, take a look at my Halloween Yoto Cards, Spooky Stories & Free Audio guide.

Choosing Spooky Tonies for Your Child

What makes a story spooky? For some children, a friendly witch or a silly monster is quite enough Halloween excitement. Others love ghost stories, creepy mysteries and tales designed to make them shiver!

Age recommendations are a helpful starting point, but you know your child best. I’ve included a brief indication of how spooky each Tonie is to help you find something suitable. I’d always listen first to make sure you think the story/ content is suitable for your child.

Best Halloween Tonies for 2026

I’ve included both traditional Tonie characters and some of the newer Book Tonies, with newer additions highlighted.

Lalalinos Halloween Album

One of the newer additions is the Lalalinos Halloween Album, containing six Halloween-themed songs. The songs include Black Cat Scaredy Cat, Haunted House Party, Pumpkin Carving and Scary Stories. It’s around 13 minutes long, recommended from age 3+, and designed to be more fun than frightening.

This is additional audio content for compatible Tonies and Creative-Tonies rather than a separate Halloween character.

Find the Lalalinos Halloween Album. Regional availability and pricing may vary.

Halloween Audio for Creative-Tonies

Creative-Tonies are particularly useful at Halloween because you can change what they play.

You can upload your own compatible audio files, record family stories or explore additional audio content through Tonies.

Make Your Own Halloween Creative-Tonie

One of my favourite ways to use Creative-Tonies is to make something completely personal.

You could create:

  • A family Halloween story collection.
  • Your children reading their own spooky stories.
  • Halloween jokes and riddles.
  • A spooky sound-effects adventure.
  • A recording of a family Halloween treasure hunt.
  • A collection of public-domain ghost stories using recordings you are permitted to reuse.
  • A Halloween playlist using music you have the necessary rights to upload.

Children could write their own stories, create character voices and record sound effects. It’s such a lovely way to combine storytelling, creativity and Halloween fun. If you already have a Halloween-themed Creative-Tonie, such as the Spooky, Vampire or Wizard designs released in different regions, it’s an ideal time to give it some seasonal audio.

Halloween Tonieplay Games

If you’ve got a Toniebox 2, there are some great monster-themed interactive games worth exploring. Unlike ordinary Tonies, Tonieplay requires a Toniebox 2 and Tonieplay Controller.

Monsters Talent Search5+Meet 48 wonderfully silly monsters and discover their talents. Fun, not scary.Around 10 mins per roundMonsters Talent Search (UK)

Guess Who? Monster Mysteries – NEW 20265+Follow audio clues to solve 15 monster mysteries. Fun, deductive play.10 mins+Guess Who? Monster Mysteries (UK)

These aren’t scary stories, but I think they’re brilliant Halloween options for children who enjoy a little screen-free play.

Free Halloween Podcasts for Creative-Tonies

You don’t necessarily need to buy another Tonie to enjoy more Halloween audio. Some children’s podcasts provide episodes as downloadable MP3 files, which may be technically suitable for uploading to Creative-Tonies. I’ve included a selection of spooky podcasts with downloadable episodes, along with a link showing where to find the audio.

Important: Download availability doesn’t automatically grant permission to upload or transfer copyrighted audio to another service. Always check the podcast publisher’s terms or request permission before adding downloaded episodes to a Creative-Tonie.

How Do You Add Downloaded Audio to a Creative-Tonie?

Creative-Tonies can hold up to 90 minutes of compatible audio.

If you have an audio file that you’re permitted to use:

  1. Download the audio file to your device.
  2. Open the Tonies app or your Tonies account.
  3. Select the Creative-Tonie you’d like to use.
  4. Choose the option to add or upload content.
  5. Upload the compatible file and save your changes.
  6. Synchronise your Toniebox so the new content becomes available.

You can find the official Tonies instructions for adding content to a Creative-Tonie.
