Easter & Spring Crafts for the Family
Spring is the perfect time to refresh your home with delicate colours, nature themes, and simple seasonal decorations that children can help create. In this post I’m sharing some of my favourite Hobbycraft finds for creating a beautiful Spring and Easter themed tree, along with craft supplies that children can use to make their own decorations. Whether you’re home educating, looking for a weekend craft activity, or simply want a cheerful seasonal display, a decorating tree is a lovely way to celebrate the changing seasons.

Decorate a Seasonal Tree
One of my favourite seasonal decorations is the Hobbycraft White Twig Tree. It’s a simple decorative tree that you can change throughout the year – from Easter eggs in spring to autumn leaves and festive ornaments later on.

All Year Round – Changing with the Season
It’s the perfect decoration for all year round. My daughter and I love to change the decorations as the cycle of the year moves on. We especially enjoy making creations to decorate our tree or to gather by the base of the tree. The best part is that once you have the tree, you can keep adding to it each year. We love saying hello to familiar friends from previous years.
Below you’ll find ideas of the craft supplies I’d recommend for decorating for Spring and Easter including ideas for decorating the Hobbycraft White Twig Tree. These are great for encouraging creativity, developing fine motor skills, and creating handmade decorations that can be used year after year.

Crafts for All – Spring Butterflies
A few pastel eggs, wooden shapes to decorate, felt flowers, and simple hanging crafts can quickly turn your tree into a bright Spring craft display that children feel proud to contribute to. To find 2026 Spring and Easter ideas from Hobbycraft check out their seasonal section here.
The butterflies in the image above require circle coffee filter paper, pipe cleaners, pegs (both standard and ‘dolly’ style will work), twine and felt pens. Add blobs of colour to your filter paper with the pens and then sprinkle on water or us a dropper – allow to dry and then assemble your butterfly.

Seasonal Treasures Storage
We store boxes in our garage that have our seasonal decorations in. The Really Useful Storage Boxes last very well; the 35 litre box is a good, manageable size. We have a box for Spring (including Easter), Summer, Autumn (including Halloween), Winter and Christmas.
Top Easter & Spring Decoration Picks from Hobbycraft
If you love the idea of decorating a twig tree but don’t want to have to create the decorations yourself then there are some lovely ready made treasures that you could purchase for your tree.

How adorable is this Hanging Wooden Enamel Bunny Decoration measuring 8cm. The perfect Spring and Easter decoration.

These delicate Hanging Wooden Eggs are such lovely colours and will certainly brighten up your home hanging from your twig tree.
You could always decorate your own eggs to hang on your tree.

More Inspiration from Hobbycraft
Hobbycraft have shared a few ideas of how you could decorate the White Twig Tree in this post.
Paper Egg Tree Decorations
You don’t have to purchase a twig tree you can always go and forage for a twig to decorate like in the image above. Bringing in other natural elements from outside can make for a wonderful display. Each time you go into nature maybe a new treasure will make it home.
In the image above we made handmade ‘egg’ decoration when my daughter was very small. You use pipe cleaners to make the shape – you could always work with a drawn template or go freestyle. You then cover each pipe cleaner oval egg with tissue paper and stick with PVA glue. Yes it’s gloriously messy, especially if they’re really little like my daughter was. Depending upon how much glue gets used you may need to leave them for a couple of days to dry! It works well to hand them on the tree to dry.

Iris Folding Spring & Easter Free Patterns
If you’re a regular to the website you’ll know just how much I love the papercraft Iris Folding. This is a great craft suitable for beginners and children from around age 6 depending upon capabilities. For Spring & Easter I’d recommend the chick, bunny and bee designs to try. Below I’ve given a brief outline of what you need. However, to find out more about this wonderful craft check out this blog post with all the details you need.
You Need:
- Paper – you’re ideally looking for quite thin paper (60-80gsm). Paper that is labelled as ‘origami paper’ is usually ideal. This pack of coloured paper is 80gsm.
- Sticky tape/ sellotape ideally in a heavy dispenser which you can use one hand to dispense tape with.
- Card blank at least 250gsm (300gsm will give you a more premium feel) – you can either work on a separate piece of card and mount onto a card blank or work directly onto a card blank. If you’re working on a separate piece of card I’d suggest using at least 200gsm.
- Craft knife or cutting machine to cut out your design – this bit will need to be prepared by an adult first.
Optional Extras:
- Googly eyes can be a great addition especially if you worry about drawing eyes on. I find the self adhesive ones are easier to add onto iris folding designs.
- Fine liner pen to complete drawn on elements if you wish. I prefer a black 0.5mm black Uni Ball Fine Liner. I think fine liners are one of those things that people find a liner brand they love and stick with it. I like this pack as it also has finer nibs as well as a 0.8mm a great set to be able to add details to your designs.
Wearable & Usable Creations – Fabric Pens
A super fun activity in our house is to use fabric pens to make our own bespoke creations. You can use an old item of clothing like my daughter did with the t-shirt above. Decorating canvas/ cotton bag blanks is a great way to create something bespoke to use for your shopping or gift. We’ve also ordered this lovely set of pastel colours to add to our range.
Looking for more Easter crafts and traditions with children then head to this post. I’d love to hear about your Spring and Easter crafts that you and your family enjoy. Please do drop a comment and share what you’re up to.
As always, I would recommend adult supervision with activities and take care to ensure the items you are using are suitable for your child in both age and development. The views expressed are my own. If I have been sent a product for review then I will state this is the case; my review will be my honest opinion.
