Super Slow Macrame: Free Sunflower Bracelet Tutorial – Beginners Plus

Super Slow Macrame

Are you like me and need to take things a little slower when you’re learning? Even when I slow them down, YouTube video tutorials are often fast forwarded and I find it hard to follow. This blog post will show you how to make a macrame sunflower bracelet.

This project is suitable for beginners who have dabbled in a little macrame before. I call it Beginners Plus. If you are new to macrame I would suggest trying this spiral pattern first before the sunflower bracelet. It’s a great precursor to the sunflower pattern as it uses a knot that is needed in this pattern.

Further into the post below you will find a super slow – no time lapse – tutorial for making the sunflower bracelet. You might also enjoy the daisy flower macrame tutorial that uses the same knots. Video tutorial below.

You can also now access a new pdf tutorial sheet for the flower daisy too. This tutorial would help you with the sunflower pattern as it is the same basic knots with different colours and numbers of square knots.

Sunflower Bracelet: What You Need

You can find the resources I use here.

  • Macrame cord
  • Ring
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape/ ruler
  • Something to secure your macrame cords to (clipboard or book and bulldog clip)

Macrame Cord

I used 3mm macrame cord for the tutorial. For the sunflower bracelet tutorial I used:

  • Stalk – Green – 200cm
  • Petals – Yellow – 140cm
  • Centre – Brown – 45cm

If this is the first time you have tried this pattern I would suggest that you use the same colours as I have. It’s much easier to follow the tutorial. However, once you are confident you can mix and match the colours to get different effects.

You can also use different thicknesses of cord but for this pattern keep to the same thickness for all colours.

Macrame Cord Pricing

I’m UK based. As a rough guide I look for 3mm macrame cord that is less than £6-£6.50 per 100m. You can find good multiple sets of colours that work out good value.

Super Slow Macrame: Sunflower Bracelet Video Tutorial

Below you will find the super slow macrame sunflower bracelet tutorial. You can save the video to a playlist on YouTube so you can access it when you need it.

Half Square Knot Tutorial Sheet

Below you will find a short tutorial sheet on how to make a half square knot. In the sunflower bracelet the stem of the bracelet is made from a full square knot. Therefore this pdf sheet will show you the steps to make a half square knot. To complete a full square knot you repeat the same action on the alternate side.

Sunflower Macrame Bracelet

This is a lovely little macrame project that comes together very quickly. Once you’re feeling confident play around with the colours to make different flower types. You could increase the number of flowers that you have on your bracelet as well.

I’m really new to making these types of videos and I’d appreciate comments on what you think. What worked well and what I could do to make them better. Thank you. Lisa x
