Under a Rock…Who Are ABBA?
Just in case you have no idea who ABBA are let me give you a brief overview! ABBA, the Swedish pop sensation formed in 1972, became one of the most iconic and beloved music groups in the world. Consisting of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, the group took their name from the initials of their first names.
Their breakthrough came in 1974 when they won the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo, propelling them to international fame. Throughout the late ’70s and early ’80s, ABBA captivated audiences with their catchy melodies, polished production, and infectious energy, releasing hit after hit including Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take a Chance on Me, and The Winner Takes It All.
Despite disbanding in 1982, ABBA’s influence never waned. Their music lived on through successful greatest hits compilations, tribute acts, and the globally adored Mamma Mia! musical and films. In a surprising twist of pop history, the group reunited in 2021 to release Voyage, their first studio album in 40 years, accompanied by a groundbreaking digital concert experience in London.
ABBA’s enduring popularity spans generations, thanks to their timeless tunes, stylish flair, and emotional storytelling that continues to resonate with fans old and new. Now ABBA have come to Yoto and you can play all your favourite hits on the ABBA Gold Yoto Card edition.
