Busy Busy Learning May #2 Newsletter – What’s in an Email Newsletter?

Welcome to the second newsletter for May from me (Lisa) here at Busy Busy Learning. If you’d like to know what goes out in my periodic musings then check out this newsletter that went out in May 2024 below.

Hello 😊

How’s your week been? It’s been another busy hospital week here and Floss needing a few days off school. The other half has been out in the garden today planting out some herbs. Some we’ve been growing indoors for a while so we’re hoping they’ll fair ok outside now – fingers crossed!

The Rivers and Moon magazines in the image above are from one of our favourite subscriptions. I’ve had a little ramble about my love of physical magazines in this blog post.

I’m very interested in delving into independent Zines and I’d love to know if you have any recommendations for me. Do drop me a reply if you do have any to recommend (I’m actually a real person on this email 😉).

Freebies Update

There’s been several freebies added to the website in the last couple of week. Use the password – (you need to sign up to the newsletter to get the passcode) – to access free content on the site. What’s been added?

🐝Bee ID cards ready for World Bee Day on Monday and I’ve also reviewed a stunning book that would be ideal for celebrating the day. If you missed the free iris folding bee pattern you can find it here too.

🌏Floss has been obsessed with Wombats so we’ve added a wombat mini story and wombat fascinating facts audio and mini book here.

🔤A new Montessori style phonics phase 5 mat has been uploaded. This accompanies the phase 2 and 3 sound mat already on the site.

🍄There’s some mushroom art that you can print on vinyl/ sticker/ paper to use in journals. Floss and I were just having some fun making these! You’ll also find some updated leaves ID cards in the same location here.

🦋Did you miss the caterpillars, moths and butterflies ID cards? You can find my free download here.

I used to love writing to my pen pals as a child. I’ve recently signed Floss up to Banjo Robinson – you can find out more info in my blog post here.

Banjo is a globe trotting cat that writes from wherever he is in the world. There’s a free trial that works in the UK – US and other parts of the world friends I’d be very interested to know if you’re able to use the free trial code successfully (let me know).

Do check out the bottom of the post for top tips for the subscription if you are interested so you know how to save more money.

Tidbits

  • Get ready in the UK – The Great British Sewing Bee returns to our screens this Tuesday. I’m really excited for this – are you? Full disclosure – I can’t sew!
  • My lovely Uncle has just uploaded his latest nature video on YouTube here. This time he’s captured a Bank Vole and a Tawny Owl!
  • I’ve reviewed an incredible book on ADHD – My Amazing ADHD Brain. It’s a highly recommended book that shines a positive light on ADHD as well as supporting children to develop strategies to help cope with challenges. Find my review here.

Have a wonderful couple of weeks and I’ll be dropping back into your inbox around June.
Warm wishes,
Lisa x
