🦋ADHD🪞🪟Mirror & Windows book 💡Tips ➕Positive, affirming, empowering 🦸 Superpower
ADHD and Bad Press
I am autistic, my experience of ADHD has been as a teacher and not as first hand experience. I feel that ADHD gets very bad press. Often children are labelled as ‘badly behaved’ even with an ADHD diagnosis. This can lead to children having a very negative opinion of themselves. What starts off as hearing others talk adversely about them can turn into a child’s own internal monologue and be incredibly damaging.
My Amazing ADHD Brain – Tremendous!
My Amazing ADHD Brain is a tremendous book that shines a really positive light on the ADHD neurodivergent mind. It’s illustrated in a fun way that will engage and empower young children and appeal to a wide audience.
Empowering
Right from the start the title empowers – My Amazing ADHD Brain – A Guide to Children Thriving with ADHD. The beginning of the book gives a brief, child friendly explanation of ADHD as well as a note to parents and carers. Then in turn it looks at the different superpowers of ADHD – incredible ideas, hyperfocus, strong morals to name a few.
Skills and Strategies for Wellbeing
Emily Snape, who’s son has an ADHD diagnosis, then goes on to explore the skills associated with these attributes. She then delicately looks at some of the challenges that can coincide with these superpowers and gives child friendly tips and strategies on how to develop skills to support their wellbeing.
Everyone Must Read
Yes, this is a wonderful book for anyone with ADHD to read but more importantly it’s a book that everyone who doesn’t have ADHD must read, especially educators, parents and carers.
