October is here, and we’re heading into one of my favourite times of year for new Yoto releases. With Halloween approaching, Christmas not too far behind and Yoto’s Autumn and Fall sales underway, I’ll be keeping a particularly close eye on the new cards arriving this month.

As always, I’ll update this post throughout October with the latest releases, picking out the cards I think are particularly worth knowing about rather than simply giving you one enormous list.
And October has already got off to a rather exciting start. I’ve spotted several new Yoto Cards appearing in the Yoto Card Store that haven’t yet featured in a weekly Yoto Space Card Drop – including one that has caused a LOT of excitement in our house!

New October Yoto Cards We’ve Spotted
These cards are currently appearing as new releases in the Yoto Card Store, although at the time of writing they haven’t all appeared in a weekly Yoto Space Card Drop.
And there’s one I need to start with…

Moomin Midwinter Collection
4 Yoto Cards
Runtime: 13 hours 28 minutes
Read by: Hugh Dennis
Oh, this is a VERY exciting Yoto release for us!
We are HUGE Moomin fans in our house, so I was incredibly excited to spot a brand-new Moomin Midwinter Collection appear in the Yoto Card Store.
Rather than shorter adaptations, this collection brings together four of Tove Jansson’s wonderful Moomin books:
- Moominland Midwinter
- Tales from Moominvalley
- Moominpappa at Sea
- Moominvalley in November

They’re narrated by Hugh Dennis, and between them you get a whopping 13 hours and 28 minutes of listening.
Moominland Midwinter feels particularly perfect for this time of year. Moomintroll unexpectedly wakes from his winter hibernation and discovers a Moominvalley transformed by snow, darkness and all the strange things that happen while the Moomins would normally be asleep.
Then there’s Tales from Moominvalley, followed by two of the later and rather more reflective Moomin novels, Moominpappa at Sea and Moominvalley in November.
One of the things I love about the Moomins is that these aren’t simply cute stories about funny little characters. Tove Jansson’s books can be funny, strange, comforting, adventurous and surprisingly thoughtful. They’re books children (and us adults) can return to and find something different in as they get older.
This is easily my standout Yoto release for October so far and one we’ll definitely be exploring.
💡 Ideas to Explore Together
The Moomins are perfect for inspiring cosy autumn and winter activities:
- ❄️ Make a snowy Moominvalley small-world scene.
- 🏠 Build or draw your own Moominhouse.
- 🍂 Head out for a Moomin-inspired nature walk and collect interesting autumn treasures.
- 🎨 Draw your favourite Moomin character in a winter landscape.
- 🗺️ Create a map of Moominvalley.
- 📚 Read some of Tove Jansson’s original books alongside the Yoto Cards.
This would also be a lovely collection to pair with some cosy winter crafting and nature activities.
Tumble Science: Are Ghosts Real and Other Halloween Science Mysteries
Age range: 5–12
Runtime: 1 hour 19 minutes
This might be my other favourite find because it’s such a good combination of Halloween and science. Rather than simply telling spooky stories, this Tumble Science collection asks children to investigate the science behind some wonderfully seasonal questions.
Are ghosts real? Are cats evil? What’s the science behind Jack-o’-lanterns? There’s even an episode exploring a mind-controlling cat parasite! There are five investigations altogether, making this a fun choice for curious children who enjoy asking why as much as they enjoy something spooky.
💡 Ideas to Explore Together
- 🎃 Investigate why pumpkins eventually rot.
- 👻 Design your own scientific experiment for investigating a “haunted” house.
- 🐈 Find out why cats’ eyes appear to glow in the dark.
- 🔬 Turn it into the starting point for a Halloween science afternoon.
The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Soundtrack
Age range: 3–14
Runtime: 1 hour
This feels perfectly timed for October. The full The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack is now available as a physical Yoto Card, including favourites such as This Is Halloween, Jack’s Lament and What’s This? This one bridges Halloween and Christmas rather brilliantly, so I suspect it’ll get plenty of use over the next few months!
Wolfgang & the De-Composers
Age range: 8–14
Runtime: 1 hour 14 minutes
This might win the prize for most unusual new Yoto Card this month. Wolfgang & the De-Composers is a spooky hip-hop musical adventure that reimagines famous classical composers – Mozart is a werewolf and Bach is a vampire!
It mixes a story about young violinist Vivian with hip-hop and music based on classical works by Bach and Mozart. It sounds gloriously bonkers and could be a really fun way to introduce older children to classical music around Halloween.
This is a Yoto Original so if you’re in the Yoto Club this one may be available as a digital card in your region.
Basketball Sounds: Game Ready with Diana Taurasi
Age range: 6–12
Runtime: 36 minutes
Something completely different next. Basketball legend Diana Taurasi becomes coach and guide for this interactive-feeling audio experience. Children are taken through basketball sounds and skills alongside breathing exercises, affirmations, teamwork and focus. I really like the idea of combining physical activity with mindfulness and confidence-building, rather than this simply being a collection of basketball facts.
This is a Yoto Original so if you’re in the Yoto Club this one may be available as a digital card in your region.
Super Spooky Songs
There’s even more Halloween listening with Super Spooky Songs, giving younger listeners something seasonal to sing and dance along to. This feels like an easy one to pop on for Halloween crafting, pumpkin carving or a little Halloween party at home.
More New Yoto Releases
I’ve also spotted some additions to Yoto’s Classical collection, including Yoto Classical: Magic, which feels particularly well timed for autumn. It includes pieces such as Aquarium, The Sugar Plum Fairy, Fossils and Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks, designed to accompany imaginative and creative play.
I’ll keep watching the different regional Yoto stores as October progresses, as cards sometimes seem to appear in the New Releases section before they’re included in a Yoto Space announcement.

Celebrating 100 Years of Winnie the Pooh
Disney Winnie the Pooh: Tales of Friendship
Age range: 3–6
Runtime: 1 hour 10 minutes
Available: All Yoto Card Stores
October 2026 marks an incredible 100 years since A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh was first published, so this feels like the perfect time to celebrate Pooh and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood.
Yoto and Disney have created Winnie the Pooh: Tales of Friendship, a collection of five heartwarming audio stories inspired by the original works of A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard and centred around something that has always been at the heart of Winnie the Pooh – friendship.
Each story focuses on a different familiar character and a gentle theme. Pooh reminds us to trust our friends, Eeyore learns to look on the bright side, Rabbit discovers the importance of teamwork, Owl shows us how to make others feel special and Piglet celebrates the things that make us different.
The collection is narrated by Susan Denaker, with music and sound effects created especially for younger listeners. At 1 hour 10 minutes, there’s a substantial amount of listening here too.
It joins the existing Winnie the Pooh: Storybook Collection on Yoto, and I think the two offer something slightly different. Tales of Friendship particularly appeals to me because of that focus on relationships, kindness and the little life lessons that Pooh stories have always handled so beautifully.

💡 Ideas to Explore Together
Winnie the Pooh lends himself wonderfully to some gentle autumn activities:
- 🍂 Head out on a Hundred Acre Wood-inspired autumn nature walk.
- 🌳 Make a map of your own Hundred Acre Wood and decide where each character might live.
- 🐝 Learn a little more about bees, honey and why bees are so important.
- 🎨 Paint or draw your favourite Hundred Acre Wood character.
- 🌉 Find somewhere safe to play Poohsticks – a lovely excuse for an autumn walk!
I’d also be tempted to get out the original A.A. Milne books alongside this one. The centenary is a lovely opportunity to introduce children to the stories and E.H. Shepard’s original illustrations, particularly if they’ve previously known Pooh mainly through Disney.
Yoto Autumn & Fall Sales
There’s another reason you might want to browse Yoto this month. The Yoto Autumn Sale is currently running in the UK, Canada and Europe, with a Fall Sale in the US.
I’ll keep my Yoto deals information updated separately rather than filling this monthly release post with prices and offers, particularly as promotions can change.
If you’ve been considering a new Yoto Player, Yoto Mini or stocking up on cards ahead of Christmas, though, it’s certainly worth checking the current offers before buying.
With the 4th Generation Yoto Player and Yoto Mini having only recently launched, you can also find out more about what’s changed and whether it’s worth upgrading in my full guide:
Looking Ahead
This is already shaping up to be a very seasonal October on Yoto. We’ve got Moomins heading into winter, Halloween science, spooky songs, The Nightmare Before Christmas and even werewolf Mozart!
I’ll keep updating this post throughout October as more cards appear – both through the official weekly Yoto Card Drops and anything interesting that quietly pops up in the different regional Yoto stores.
And with Christmas getting closer, I’ll also be keeping an eye out for new releases that would make particularly good Yoto Card Christmas gifts.
