www Wednesday Books – Bunny Vs Monkey, The Winter Dragon, The Bowerbird & More…

It’s W W W Wednesday! Hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. You can find Sam’s post for this week here.

The Three Ws are:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Oh what a frustrating health week it’s been. I’ve not read anywhere near as much as I would have liked to.

My daughter Floss is really not enjoying reading school books right now. She reads so much for pleasure that I feel like I shouldn’t worry if she doesn’t want to read the school books she doesn’t like. I don’t want to put her off reading, which she adores, by making her reading them. I don’t want her to get in trouble at school. What would you do?

Currently Reading

Bunny Vs Monkey

Finally, Bunny Vs Monkey Multiverse Mix-Up! arrived and Floss is thrilled. She’s almost finished and she thinks it’s the funniest one so far – it is a good one! I’m looking for some new graphic novel recommendations so do drop a note in comments of any you think we’d love.

Batcat eARC

Being ill has meant I haven’t managed to finish this one yet with Floss. We’re thoroughly enjoying it so far. Batcat is a character you can’t help but love. I can’t wait to discover if Batcat can solve their little haunting problem. Batcat by Meggie Ramm (Amulet Books, £9.99) Out 27 April 2023.

Woodwitch

I’m even closer to finishing this one. I should be done but I mis-placed my Kindle after going to the hospital. Woodwitch started off slow but has really picked up pace and I’m eager to know how it concludes. It’s due for release in the UK on 2nd March 2023. It’s book two in Skye McKenna’s compelling series. You can find my review of book one Hedgewitch here.

Just Finished Reading

Selfies with Komodos

Selfies with Komodos is written by Brian Moses and illustrated Ed Boxall. It’s a fabulous poetry collection and you can find out more in my review here. It’s one I’ve read for my A Poem a Day in January.

Get Real, Mallory!

The sweetest book arrived this week from Walker Books to review. Get Real, Mallory! is a book that could have been written about my daughter. How incredible would it be if your drawings came to life? That’s exactly what happens to Nomi in this imaginative, delight of a story. I’ll be adding a full review soon.

The Winter Dragon

A beautiful Book sent for review – The Winter Dragon by Caroline Pitcher and Sophy Williams published by Graffeg. Although a Winter Dragon, it’s a warming story of overcoming bedtime fears. Magical! Review coming soon.

Future Reading

Choose Love

Thanks to Bethan at Graffeg for sending Choose Love for me to review. It caught my eye as it’s a collection of poetry for adults but by two names that I know better through children’s books. Nicola Davies writes beautifully about the natural world and Petr Horáček is a favourite author and illustrator of ours. I’m intrigued to read this one.

The Bowerbird

Just been accepted for The Bowerbird on NetGalley. Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Catherine Rayner, published my Macmillan Children’s Books. Due to publish on 30th March 2023.

Any of these on your read or TBR pile?
