This week’s drop feels like a lovely balance of educational audio, classic mysteries and timeless stories. There’s also something that made me particularly happy…

A brand-new Ladybird Audio Adventures collection!

Set of five colourful emergency services-themed audio adventure cards for children, featuring police, ambulance, fire truck, and rescue dog characters.

These have become one of our family’s favourite Yoto series. Floss absolutely loves them and they’re one of the few collections we tend to buy as soon as a new volume appears (they have gone out of stock in the past). We’ve already ordered Volume 8 using our Yoto Club credits (one of my favourite Yoto Club benefits), and because we’re Yoto Club members it arrives with free delivery too. Plus, I love the fact they are available today as a digital download once you purchase.

Out of the five adventures, we’re especially excited to listen to In the Garden, Reptiles and South America first.

Ladybird Audio Adventures Volume 8 digital audiobook cover with colorful illustrations of animals and emergency services, suitable for children's learning and entertainment.

Ladybird Audio Adventures Volume 8

  • Ages 5–7 from Yoto – however, we love them at nearly 10 and in my 40s!
  • Approximate running time: Just under 6 hours across the five cards

I honestly get excited whenever a new Ladybird Audio Adventures collection appears. A top tip with these cards is that some BorrowBox users can actually loan these titles. It’s worth taking a look.

If you’ve never listened to one before, these aren’t dry educational recordings. They’re brilliantly produced adventures that weave facts into engaging stories, making children feel as though they’re exploring the world alongside the characters.

Volume 8 includes five brand-new adventures exploring:

  • 🚒 Emergency Services
  • 🦎 Reptiles
  • 🌎 South America
  • 🚋 Trams and Trains
  • 🌼 In the Garden

We’ve already used three of our Yoto Club credits to add this pack to our collection and I have a feeling it’ll be one of our most-played cards over the summer.

The Nancy Drew Diaries Pack

  • Ages 8–12
  • Approximate running time: Just over 10 hours across the three cards

Nancy Drew with three detective adventures, each taking readers to a completely different setting.

This updated version of the classic series feels fresh without losing what made Nancy Drew so popular in the first place. Across the collection she’ll investigate suspicious events aboard a cruise ship, uncover secrets on an Alaskan train journey and solve another puzzling mystery at a horse show.

If your child enjoys mysteries that encourage them to piece together clues alongside the main character, this looks like another strong addition to the series.

This pack includes:

  • Curse of the Arctic Star
  • Strangers on a Train
  • Mystery on the Midnight Rider

💡 Ideas to Explore Together

  • Create your own detective notebook.
  • Design secret codes for family members to solve.
  • Take fingerprints using an ink pad.
  • Hide clues around the house for a mystery treasure hunt.
  • Write your own detective story.

Yoto US & Canada Card Stores

Cover of Mary Poppins in the Park children's book featuring Mary Poppins and children under a tree, with a park scene in the background.

The Mary Poppins Collection 2

I can’t currently see this one on the US or Canadian Yoto site so there may have been a delay.

  • Ages 8–12
  • Approximate running time: To be confirmed

Mary Poppins returns for three more magical adventures, bringing plenty of imagination, gentle humour and just a little bit of mystery to Cherry Tree Lane.

While many children will know Mary Poppins from the Disney films, these stories stay much closer to P. L. Travers’ original books. They’re wonderfully imaginative and often a little more unusual than people expect, making them a lovely choice for family listening or confident independent listeners who enjoy timeless classics.

This collection includes:

  • Mary Poppins in the Park
  • Mary Poppins in Cherry Tree Lane
  • Mary Poppins and the House Next Door

💡 Ideas to Explore Together

  • ☂️ Create your own magical umbrella – Decorate paper umbrellas or design an umbrella that could whisk you away on an adventure.
  • 🎒 What’s inside the carpet bag? – Imagine you had Mary Poppins’ magical bag. Draw or write about ten impossible things you would keep inside.
  • 🧁 Bake together – Make cupcakes or biscuits before sitting down for a cosy family listening session.
  • 📖 Compare book and film – Older children might enjoy spotting the differences between the original stories and the Disney adaptations.

Yoto Europe & Canada Card Stores

Two colourful children's books from the Timoté series, featuring a mouse character in construction and gardening scenes, promoting imaginative play.

Timoté passe une merveilleuse journée

  • Ages 2–5
  • Approximate running time: 27 minutes

Timoté is a curious little rabbit who experiences many of the same adventures young children do. This collection follows him as he visits firefighters, explores a castle, spends time at a holiday club and enjoys family outings.

The stories are short, reassuring and perfect for preschool listeners who like hearing about familiar experiences before trying them themselves.

Timoté et la magie de la nature

  • Ages 2–5
  • Approximate running time: 27 minutes

This further Timoté collection encourages little ones to slow down and notice the natural world. Through gentle adventures, Timoté explores forests, beaches, gardens and changing seasons while learning how to care for the environment.

It’s a lovely companion for outdoor adventures over the summer.

Our Favourite Picks This Week

If I had to choose just one release from this week’s drop, these would be the ones I’d recommend taking a closer look at:

🥇 Ladybird Audio Adventures Volume 8 – We’re huge fans of this series and I can’t wait to listen to the new adventures with Floss. Educational without ever feeling like school, they’re some of the strongest non-fiction cards on Yoto.

Looking Ahead

Yoto usually releases new cards every Thursday, so I’ll continue updating this page throughout July as each new card drop arrives.

If you’re a Yoto Club member, don’t forget to check whether any of this month’s Yoto Originals are available as digital downloads with your membership.

I’ll also keep adding activity ideas and related Busy Busy Learning resources as new cards arrive, so feel free to bookmark this page and pop back each week.
