Yoto advertise their Yoto Players and Yoto Mini Players for 3-12+ years and in this post I’m going to tell you why in my 40s I bought a Yoto Mini for me! I also think the Yoto Players would be ideal for teens too. Read on to find out more.

Why I Bought a Yoto for Me as an Adult?
Yes, I’m in my 40s and I purchased a Yoto Mini for myself! Why? I had got into the habit of listening to podcasts and audio books on my phone. However, I found I kept getting interrupted and distracted by notifications on my phone. What could have been screen free time ended up being the opposite.
When my daughter was younger we mainly used the standard Yoto cards. It wasn’t until later as she got older and we started to add library audio books and podcasts to the Yoto that I started to wonder if this might be a good plan for me.

Make Your Own Content for Adults and Teens
Using a couple of Yoto Make Your Own Cards I made my own audio book card with a book from Borrow Box and one with one of my Podcasts I enjoy.

Whilst Floss my daughter was at school I tested out the cards in her player and whether I would actually use the Yoto Mini Player. I found I really enjoyed it. I loved the portability of being able to move the player from room to room with me. I could even take it in the car with me to continue listening to my audio books.
After a week I’d decided I would get myself a Yoto Mini Player. I had wondered if I could get away with just borrowing Floss’s when she wasn’t using it. Although, it soon became apparent that we wanted it at the same time sometimes. I also think that Floss seeing me using the player made her want to listen to it more.

Love Yoto Mini for Adults
Well I feel in love with my Yoto Mini. I particularly loved that I could pair the Yoto Mini with my Bluetooth headphones. This meant I could carry on listening to audio books and podcasts whilst cooking with Floss home. It can be hard to fit in time to enjoy books with kids about so fitting in extra time whilst doing something else was great. I also liked that my daughter wasn’t seeing me with my phone. Seeing me using the Yoto Mini also meant she tended to gravitate more towards her screen free Yoto rather than a different device.
Yoto Player Perfect for Teens
As a parent of a seven year old I do worry about technology and social media as my daughter heads towards her teenage years. However, I want her to be able to continue to access audio books and podcasts. For me the Yoto Players seem like the perfect choice to ensure that she can still enjoy audio content whilst keeping her digitally safe.
Which Yoto Player?
We actually purchased Yoto Minis first and we’ve only recently purchased a Yoto Player 3rd Generation (seven years old). Floss adores the Yoto Player. Floss still loves the Yoto Mini for moving around the house and out and about but the Yoto Player is the main one now used on the evenings.
