Yoto Player and Yoto Mini Players are fantastic learning tools and there are Yoto cards that give excellent educational content for children.
It always makes me smile when Floss, our daughter, tells me some fact that she’s learnt or explains a concept to me. I’m equally surprised when I ask the question below:
Did you learn that at school? (Me)
No, on my Yoto! (Floss, aged 7)
Learning with Yoto
I can’t believe how much she does learn from the Yoto! There are dedicated cards you can purchase from Yoto that are factual and I’ll go through some of our favourites in this blog post. I’ll also show you other free sources of non-fiction audio content including podcasts.
Favourite Yoto Non-Fiction Cards
Yoto has a really good selection of non-fiction cards. My daughter had always preferred fiction story books and wasn’t very interested in non-fiction texts.
Yoto cards have really given her a zest for knowledge and she’s become very into fact books – both audio and standard books. Here are some of her favourite cards (click on the country code to be taken to the cards):
- Our Planet and The Human Body series from BrainBots (Floss has others from this series on her wish list) – available from (UK) (US) (CA) (AU)
- Ladybird Audio Adventures – available from (UK) (US) (CA) (AU). If you have access to BorrowBox then here in the UK several of these I’ve found on here to borrow. Find out more about BorrowBox here.
Lots of these come as singles but also in packs that make it much better value. We also love the Flags of the World, Meet the Egyptians, Horrible Histories and Everything Under the Sun.
Floss has several more on her wish list! See what non-fiction learning cards are available from (UK) (US) (CA) (AU)
Yoto arrived in Australia in July 2024. There are fewer cards available than in some other countries right now but more will be added so it’s worth checking back. If you’re in Australia and new to Yoto you may find this post helpful.
Favourite Yoto Educational Podcasts for Kids
One of the brilliant features of a Yoto Player and Yoto Mini is that you can add podcasts to Yoto Make Your Own Cards. All you need is the RSS feed. To find out how to add podcasts to Yoto Cards check out this post that will explain how. In this post you will also find RSS feed info for some of our favourite podcasts.
